Yard Waste & Compost

Yard Waste

State law prohibits putting yard waste in your garbage (Minnesota Statutes §115A.931). Residents looking to properly dispose of yard waste can contact their trash hauler directly to ask about their yard waste services. Residents can also take advantage of the two available compost sites in Anoka County:

Bunker Hills Compost Site
13285 Hanson Boulevard
Coon Rapids, MN

Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Compost Site
7701 Main Street
Lino Lakes, MN

These sites are a great alternative for residents with grass clippings or leaves in amounts that are too large to compost or leave on their yard at home. Both sites are open year round, weather permitting. The winter hours are more limited than the warm weather hours. No charge for the first four cubic yards of yard waste. Proof of residency must be shown.

Tree Waste

Anoka County compost sites also accept brush and tree waste, and fees vary based on the amount and diameter of the materials. Residents may use tree waste as firewood, or chip it for mulch.
