[ARCHIVED] Roadway improvement project at Highway 65–Viking Boulevard intersection begins September 9th

Motorists may encounter delays and off-peak lane closures on both directions of Highway 65 near Viking Boulevard beginning Monday, September 9th.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m., both directions of Highway 65 at Viking Boulevard in East Bethel will experience intermittent lane closures as crews begin lengthening the left turn lanes on the highway.

In addition, at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20th, Viking Boulevard just east of Highway 65 will close as crews remove and replace the culvert under the roadway. Viking Boulevard will re-open by 5:00 a.m. Monday, September 23rd. Viking Boulevard west of Highway 65 will not be impacted.

Motorists should plan to slow down and drive with caution through the work zone.

The entire roadway improvement project is expected to be complete by Friday, September 27th, weather permitting.

Extending the left turn lanes will improve safety and traffic flow on the highway as well as lower the risk of rear-end crashes by reducing the need for turning motorists to begin slowing down while still in the through lanes of Highway 65.
